Static Pronation Hold — 45°

An isometric pronation hold at the 45° table-style angle trains the strength to hold a rotated position under load at the exact angle a match is actually fought at.

Muscles Worked

Pronator teres, pronator quadratus

Equipment

Cable machine

How to Do It

  1. 1Set the cable or band at a 45° angle
  2. 2Rotate into full pronation and hold
  3. 3Keep tension steady for the full hold

Sets & Reps

3-4 sets · 10-20 seconds hold

Coaching Tips

  • 45° mimics a common mid-match hand position
  • Breathe steadily — don't hold your breath through the hold

Common Mistakes

  • Holding with a bent or sagging wrist instead of a firm, match-realistic position
  • Ending the hold as soon as it becomes uncomfortable rather than building toward the full 10-20 second target
