Pronation Hold

The pronation hold is an isometric version of a pronation curl — forearm held pronated against resistance rather than moving through a rep — building the ability to hold a rotated top-roll position rather than just get into one.

Muscles Worked

Pronator teres, forearm

Equipment

Cable machineSledgehammer

How to Do It

  1. 1Use cable or sledgehammer
  2. 2Rotate to full pronation
  3. 3Hold against resistance

Sets & Reps

3-4 sets · 10-15 seconds hold

Coaching Tips

  • Maintain full rotation throughout
  • Keep fingers pressing against surface

Common Mistakes

  • Letting the forearm rotate back toward neutral partway through the hold instead of maintaining full pronation
  • Only training the dynamic pronation curl and skipping this isometric version, missing the hold-strength component of a top roll
